ökocat® Unveils a Packaging Refresh and Grows Pet Retail Distribution in 2020

FERNDALE, WA. (February 13, 2020) – Leaving old school clay and chemicals in the dust, ökocat®, a next generation brand of plant-based cat litter based in Ferndale, Washington, revealed a packaging refresh and announced it will have expanded nationwide pet channel distribution in 2020.

ökocat offers “a healthier clean” compared to traditional clay litters, providing a better choice for cats, the home they live in, the humans they live with and the planet we all live on. In addition to a fresh new design, the packaging highlights the key benefits found to be most important to cat owners when choosing a litter.

Stops odor before it starts: Wood fiber naturally prevents enzymes from bonding with liquid and waste to stop the creation of ammonia.

Clumps solid for easy cleaning: Precision-cut fiber absorbs liquid on contact to form solid clumps for easy scooping and cleaning.

99% dust free for a healthy home: Clean wood fiber is screened & de-dusted for a cleaner pour. No dirty clay dust.

“18 months of consumer research has supplied a great number of insights around consumer desire for a healthier litter choice — one that aligns with the other healthy choices they are making throughout their home,” said Leslie Ellis, Communications Manager at ökocat. “Our new packaging has gone through several rounds of research and validation and received high marks for intent to purchase.”

Strip-mined clay still accounts for the 2.4 million tons of cat litter that ends up in landfills each year. In addition to being completely natural and biodegradable, ökocat is free from synthetic chemicals, fragrance, dyes or GMOs.

ökocat offers the following varieties:

The new ökocat packaging will begin appearing online and in nearly 8,000 stores across the U.S. and Canada in March. In addition to revealing its new packaging and messaging, the brand continues to grow with expanded programs at both PetSmart and Petco in 2020
