Rated 5 out of 5 by Michele from Never thought that I would switch!! My cats thought they loved another brand, and as I am trying to get them healthier with their food the other most important item is the litter. Now they loved the other brand and after carefully researching I found okocat in my local grocery. Slowly switching out their favorite litter (which they probably didn't notice) and Oh my what a difference the house didn't smell again we didn't notice this before. Now I have tried the blue box and they weren't too keen on the larger pieces and just love the pink box (softer stuff). Now we are completely taken away with okocat litter and will it will be a Catastrophe if our store stops carrying it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Mom of 2 furbabies from Less tracking, so lightweight, and no dust! This is my favorite litter. It doesn't make a mess, the clumps of urine are small, not like with regular gray litter. I used to find litter all in my bed, but Okocat doesn't track! It also isn't dusty- no cloud in your face of dust as you pour the litter. The cost is unfortunately too high for me to buy regularly, I stock up when it is on sale and when there are coupons. I buy out the supply in the store! My only suggestion for this to be perfect would be a better box design. When you push in the cardboard to open it, all of the litter is in the way and a little flap inside. Maybe a cardboard pour spout like on milk boxes could be feasible.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Domi from OUTSTANDING PRODUCT! I absolutely am in love with this litter, i searched for months trying all sorts of litters that smelled up my home, irritated my sinuses, clumped up my kitties feet (eeeewww), performed poorly, were filled with synthetics, and were just a waste of money. I figured try it, why not and before i could finish setting up my cats litter box she had jumped in to play in it, than did her business. She was actually excited about it, its been our MAIN ever since. This product checks all the boxes for me in terms of effectiveness and eco-friendliness; thank you Healthy Pet for doing my family and our earth a huge favor.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Cat M from Great stuff! This litter is AMAZING! I've been trying to find a natural alternative to clay litters that can actually outperform clay. I really dislike how bad clay litter is for our cats to be inhaling and/or ingesting. This stuff clumps great, far better than corn litters I've tried. It doesn't bother MY allergies from added fragrances like other litters. I have a litter mat that catches most of this stuff so they aren't tracking into the hallway anymore either! It has great odor control and is lightweight. I didn't have to transition my girls either. They went right to it and used it right away without hesitation. I don't flush it so I can't comment on that. All in all, use this stuff. Clean your box daily and you'll probably love it as much as I do.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Sushi from Second Review for Okocat cause we love it Okocat is a great cat litter. I switched over about 6 months ago and love this litter BUT most importantly my 16 rescue cats like it. The pros to using this litter is that it's very affordable, lighweight, clumps very well keeping the rest of the litter clean, lasts a very long time, smells good and controls odor extremely well. My cats all use it and it's soft on the paws. I have found no cons yet for this litter. My cats love it so that is what matters the most. Thank you again Okocat for a great product. If anyone can attest to it it's me with 16 kitties.

Is this litter manufactured in such a way that phenols are removed during production? My cat, who is a declawed senior, LOVES this litter, and I'd rather not change if I don't have to, but she has also recently been diagnosed with asthma.
Very sorry to hear that! Yes, the wood is kiln-dried in very high heat to remove any phenols.

I saw this litter at the pet food store today, and was looking all over the box for the ingredients on all three varieties. I am interested in the paper-dust free version. What are the ingredients and additives to make this litter clump?
The okocat Dust Free paper does NOT clump. It is made from virgin white paper without any dyes or chemicals. Any of the additives in our products are those typically found in the production of common household products such as tissue paper and/or products for human consumption. For the clumping versions, we add a proprietary recipe of ingredients derived from natural materials that are listed by the FDA as GRAS (generally accepted as safe) human-grade ingredients.

Does this litter have to be completely replaced from time to time? If so how often?
I found with this litter I normally (with 3 cats) can go 6 months before I need a complete litter change. I also scoop multiple times a day so it's always clean!

I am really impressed with Okocat. However, which product is the easiest to scoop? I've been using ökocat's Natural Pine Litter but it's too large to scoop and I end up having to wait until I completely change the litter once a week.
The okocat Natural Pine litter is a non-clumping litter so it will not form easy to scoop clumps. The okocat Super Soft Clumping litter is the easiest to scoop because it is the smallest granule and forms great clumps. There are also "pellet" scoops that you can purchase with larger holes for easier sifting for the larger granule sized litters.

1 of my cats is allergic to corn, wheat, several grasses, and a few trees (hickory, ash, elm, sycamore, and aspen). Is there a chance any of these would be in any of your litters? If it’s trace amounts, it should be fine. Also how strong a pine scent?
It does not have a strong pine scent at all. It smells like fresh wood or sawdust. Super Soft does not have any corn, wheat, or grasses. ökocat wood litters are made from a mix of soft woods, and may contain some pine, but also fir and spruce but we cannot guarantee that it does not contain trace amounts of other wood types. If your cat has allergies, we suggest using the Dust Free Paper Litter instead, which is made out of virgin white paper only.

Where is the litter sourced from and manufactured? Pricing?
The ökocat™ wood clumping litters are currently sourced from Germany and is sourced from reclaimed fallen softwood trees, a blend of spruce, fir and pine. The Dust Free paper and the Cracked Pine are manufactured in the U.S. Please see the individual sizes for price for each.

I'm confused about how long the litter lasts. The Product Info tab says it controls odor for 7 days. But the Instructions tab says the base litter lasts 4-6 weeks. Can you please clarify? Thanks.
I think it depends on multiple variables- the size of your cat box, how much litter you put in, how many cats use it, how often you scoop, and how often you completely empty and replace litter. On the box it said for 2 cats it would last 2 weeks. With my cats using this litter in their only (pretty large) litter box, i use 1.5 boxes to fill it when empty. My cats hate the level of litter going too low, they will pull in objects into the box, so after about 10 days, I will pour in the rest of box #2. Then go maybe another 10 days until thoroughly cleaning and replacing litter. So maybe it could last about 2 weeks if my fur-beasts were not so fussy. That's just my experience. I find, in general, that this lasts longer and is much better quality than the gray typical cat litter.
