Rated 1 out of 5 by quinn from mushrooms?? One day i woke up and there were mushrooms taller than my guinea pigs cage that were brown and gross. ever since then i have had a fear of mushrooms because that’s absolutely disgusting to wake up to. I keep my pigs in my room and this sent me into a state of panic. I quested a lot of things but through research and process of elimination i realized it was this bedding?? (could be wrong but it was the only option really) and my mom recently got me another bag and it reeks? it smells like chemicals and my pigs (who usually loge laying in those areas in their cage) won’t go in it. Don’t have any pictures of the mushroom since i panicked and scrubbed the whole cage immeadlty. im horrified of waking up to this again

Rated 1 out of 5 by Allison from SMELLS LIKE FORMALDEHYDE!!! My father commented that this product smells like formaldehyde. It is so bad that I feel nauseous when changing the bedding in my rabbits cage. I have been using this same product for a few years and have never had such a problem. I just researched online and found out that MANY people are having this same issue. The scent is so foul that I have to store it away from all my pets food and treats because the scent is rubbing off on them. I would just throw the product out and buy a different brand, but it is rather expensive, and I can’t exactly afford to waste it like that.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Whateverrats from Soft and comfy! My rats love it! Its cozy for there little paws and they even sleep on it, which never happened with wood shavings! I love that it expands that much, you really get your money's worth. For a 12 liter pack I can go on for months changing the bedding every 6-7 days. It's quite cheap also, it's just so worth it, for them as much as for us!

Rated 1 out of 5 by Sandy65 from BAD SMELL I have been using this product for years with no problems. The past several bags have had a foul odor to them. I thought maybe it was just a bad bag, but now every bag I buy has that same foul odor. It smells like there is a dead mouse in the bag.

Is it safe to use for cats?
Hello, CritterCare is developed and manufactured specifically for certain small animals (rabbits, guinea pigs, hamsters, gerbils, rats, mice, chinchillas and ferrets). We recommend checking with your local vet first before using it for other species. As with any changes to your pet's care, if you do use it be sure to observe your pet closely for changes in behavior. Potential risk of impaction exists if your pet ingests a significant amount of any type of bedding. If you suspect impaction, discontinue use immediately and seek veterinary care.

What is the odor control formula? The recent bag smells more strongly than usual. I have used this bedding since my mice were young with no problems, but the new bag has put me on edge. I don't want to put their sensitive lungs at risk.

Is the size being sold referring to compressed or expanded? If it is being sold as 60 liters, is it in the expanded quantity?
The 60 liters is the useable, expanded volume once the package is opened.

Is this safe as a Bearded Dragon substrate?
carefresh® bedding was developed for small animals, though some customers use it with other species. We always suggest checking with your local vet first before using it for an off-label use, such as reptiles. If you do use carefresh® bedding for a species other than the small animals listed, just be sure to watch them closely when you introduce the bedding for the first time.

What kind of paper fibers are these? I think my child is allergic to this when she lets her rabbit on her and never had a problem before this.
It is a sustainable product that is made from natural wood fiber sourced from partnerships with tissue and paper manufacturers. If it is the natural bedding that might be causing the reaction, we suggest trying the White bedding instead which comes only from White virgin reclaimed paper.
