NOW YOUR MEOWING

Cats only use their meows to talk to humans, not each other. The only time they meow to communicate with other felines is when they are kittens signaling to their mother.

Cats

Cats are relatively low maintenance, however, like any pet, they do need care, some more than others. Cats can fit into busy, modern lifestyles, as they are mostly independent and can be left alone for long periods and are suitable for smaller apartments or houses. Cats are often chosen by people who have busy lifestyles who want the companionship without the time commitment of a dog.

Owning any pet is good for your heart. Cats in particular lower your stress level and lower the amount of anxiety in your life. Petting a cat often has a positive calming effect. Purrrrrrrfect after a stressful day!

It's very important to provide a secure environment for your cat. This includes putting the litter box in a safe, discreet place away from their food and water and high traffic areas. Cats prefer a litter box that gives them ample space to move around. It should be one and a half times the length of your cat. Use a natural, dust and scent free litter like ökocat which prevents them from breathing in harmful dust or ingesting harmful additives when they clean themselves.

Cats are natural climbers. They like to be able to rest and observe their surroundings from high places. Taking time out from social demands is an essential part of everyday life for a cat, so secret hideaways are a must. Cats spend the majority of their time asleep and favor warm places to sleep - which usually means your bed!

Cats usually let you know when they are hungry. Feed them a well-balanced, complete cat food on a regular schedule. Most cats will eat their main meals at dawn and dusk, when they would normally be hunting and catching prey in the wild, so those are often the best times to feed them. Dry food can be made available at all times, if your cat does not overeat.

It is essential to not overfeed them which may lead to weight gain and health problems like diabetes, arthritis, and heart disease. Make sure they always have fresh water available and do not give them milk, as most cats are actually lactose intolerant. Treats can be given in moderation.
